Meet the Band

Steve Montoya – Vocals/Guitar/Keyboard

Steve

I am the founder and leader of Spanish Express. I have been playing music since I was 15 years old. I started playing drums, then learned the bass guitar, guitar, keyboard, sound reinforcement, and vocals.

My first band was Aguila Negra, then Spanish Express #1 Grupo Lumbre, Illusion, and was then co-owner of the well known band Poquito Maz.

Through my music career I was fortunate to open for numerous big acts, with the biggest stage being the Greeley Independence Stampede. I have a passion for music and will continue to express my passion as long as the good Lord allows.

Johnny Martinez – Bass Guitar/Vocals

Johnny

I started playing guitar at age 7, playing spanish music with my dad. At age 14 I started playing rock n roll with friends at school. At age 16 I had my own rock band playing for parties and school functions, while still playing spanish music with my dad and uncles.

After graduation I joined several bands, playing spanish and rock n roll music. At this time, I started playing the bass. I also played with my oldest brother for 15+ years.

To date, I have played for several different groups and bands, including opportunities to learn different types of music such as Jazz,Blues and Country. My music career has been influenced by my dad and oldest brother.

I was born and raised in and around Greeley. I was the light tech and helped with sound for Poquito Maz for a few years. I now have a new opportunity to do the same with our fun new band, Spanish Express. I really enjoy this new group that we have pulled together who are very fun to be around and excellent musicians. I hope to see all of your smiling faces at our parties. Come and share in the fun!!!!

Mark Martinez – Sound Technician

Mark

I started playing music with my dad, at the age of 14. Learning to play the bass and having my own rock band in high school.I attended music events with my dad’s band when they were performing, allowing me to help with set up and sound. I was taught the skills of quality and balance for sound with live music.Music has always been an inspiration and big part of my life, being asked to be the sound tech for the Spanish Express Band was a great opportunity to do one of the things I really enjoy.
I want to thank the guys in the band for letting me be a part of this awesome group.
